The controller tray supports Common Storage Module 200 (also known as CSM2) expansion trays and legacy Sun StorageTek 6140 Array expansion trays. The controller tray is configured for FC connections to expansion trays that hold disk drives, and provides RAID functionality and caching. The controller tray contains two redundant array of independent disks (RAID) controllers, which operate independently and provide failover capability for the data and management paths. The Sun Storage 65 arrays consists of one controller tray and disk expansion trays. TABLE 1-1 Comparison of Sun Storage 65 Arrays TABLE 1-1 provides a comparision of the model features. The Sun Storage 65 Arrays share the same controller and expansion tray hardware. The main cabinet arrays 1 through 12 are located in the same cabinet as the controller tray, and arrays 13 through 16 are located in an expansion cabinet.įIGURE 1-3 Sun Storage 6780 Array 1x17 Configuration with Expansion Rack For example, 1x5 is one controller tray and four expansion trays, and 1x17 is one controller tray and 16 expansion trays.įIGURE 1-3 shows one controller tray and sixteen expansion trays (1 x 17 configuration). The configuration naming convention is the number of controller trays x the number of disk expansion trays where the first number is the controller tray and the second is the total number of trays. One controller tray and twelve expansion trays (1x13)įIGURE 1-2 Sun Storage 65 Array Sample Configurationsįor controller and expansion tray cabling details, see Intertray Cabling. One controller tray and eight expansion trays (1x9).One controller tray and four expansion trays (1x5).The array is scalable from a base configuration of one dual RAID controller tray and one expansion tray to a maximum configuration of one dual RAID controller tray and 12 expansion trays in one cabinet ( FIGURE 1-2), up to 24 expansion trays across two cabinets ( FIGURE 1-3), to a maximum of 28 expansion trays mounted in three cabinets.įIGURE 1-1 Sun Storage 65 Arrays Product OverviewįIGURE 1-2 shows three sample configurations: The fully-assembled Sun Storage 65 Arrays are mounted in a Sun Rack II, which can accommodate up to 12 expansion trays. If you have purchased independent components, see Installing and Cabling Rack-Ready Trays for information about assembling your array. The Sun Storage 6580 or 6780 Array can be shipped in a fully-assembled and cabled rack or as independent components. However, all that is being reflected merely by a blinking LED.The Sun Storage 65 Arrays provide a high-performance, enterprise-class, 4- and 8-Gigabit per second (Gb/s) Fibre Channel (FC) solution that combines outstanding performance with the highest reliability, availability, flexibility, and manageability. Using any Windows performance counter as its data source, DiskLED can access pretty much every moving data in your system, starting with RAM usage or network traffic. Users that like to tweak things will enjoy this level of flexibility. ConclusionĭiskLED is a lightweight and straightforward app that offers lots of monitoring options just to support a blinking LED in your system tray. It can also be easily moved on USB sticks and ported on other computers, and it will run easily straight from the executable file. You may specify the number of milliseconds the utility needs to update its information about your system's performance. You can help DiskLED better calculate system activity by inputting the number you consider to be 100% of system utilization. This way, you'll get an accurate representation of how your computer module works with the accuracy of a blinking LED. Each module found on that list can have its counter and instance changed. The program isn't limited to only monitoring your HDD, but you can set it to survey any component found in your computer, that include RAM, CPU, and a whole list of other objects. In this regard, DiskLED places the little LED in your system tray instead of your computer case and offers some options to customize it as well. Although it's not really a critical feature to have, some users would like to have a little light showing them that their HDD is alive and kicking. Not all computer cases have HDD LEDs that flicker every time the main hard drive is working. All it does is effectively flicker an LED-type icon in the system tray. DiskLED is a small application that indicates when your hard disk is actively transferring data. ![]()
